  • The Wrath of Cannes

Is Cannes the most prestigious award show because of the talent, or the location? Are they really tipping their cap to the industries greatest, or simply riding the coattails of the famous film festival.

Some local heroes have decided that if you’re not headed to the French Riviera this
year, you owe it to yourself to visit the New York Riviera. Coney Island. Amidst Shoot the Freak, The Cyclone, and yard-long margaritas you’ll find the Wrath of Cannes, advertising’s freakshow award show.

    From the site:

“Is the Wrath of Cannes a bitter response to the self congratulating, glad handing, marble bag wearing, dom swilling, bronzer slathered soirees that fester up on the beach in cannes?

Quote obviously, yes. These are the very parties we would be attending were we finalists or had we an invitation”

Submissions are open to anyone in the biz, young and old, and can be from any form of media. Simply load up a thumb drive with the best thing you’ve created this year, head to Cha Cha’s Club Atlantis on Coney’s boardwalk. Judging takes place in real time, with what we’d imagine to be hoots and hollers.

You can get all the details on their site.

    The Final Happy Hour

Friday night was the final Happy Hour at our house on Spring Street. The place that started as Doug’s apartment on the 3rd Floor and grew to a bustling workplace of more than 25 people expanding to the 2nd Floor. This Friday it was a like a reverse exorcism. We had to put part of ourselves into that building before we left, and naturally that caused quite a ruckus.

Bars on both floors, a live brass band on the back patio, DJ Dom Rocket and DJ Never Forget inside, Rando finally got his birthday cake love…You’d think we sold our souls to have this much fun.

Mark Made came back on Saturday and said the smell gave him a hangover. That wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing friends.

Thanks to everyone who has stuck with us from the very beginning until today, the beginning of the next great incarnation of thehappycorp global on Broome Street.

Pink comedy Happy Hour: Rebel, Delfino, Baby Batter

If you missed last week’s female comedy Happy Hour we forgive you. Many
thanks to Rosie Rebel and Jessica Delfino for holding down the white couch with great stand-up. Our host for the evening, the enigmatic Baby Batter, made sure no one at thehappycorp will ever have children.

These photos are almost as good as being there, and you don’t have to dodge flying condoms.

Jeff Newelt Shouts Out Doug Jaeger on Gothamist

Happy hour collaborator, Jeff Newelt (who curated a happy hour over the summer in August) is interviewed by Gothamist and reflects on the huge party he threw on thehappycorp deck.

In the interview, he mentions Doug Jaeger and how he considers him and his crew (that means us) as a key component in his legion of super friends.

    Aww, isn’t that nice?

To read the full interview, visit the Gothamist site.
