task I.COVER UP If we were looking for a writing apprentice a plain old cover letter would suffice. But a design apprentice might best express themselves with type and image. So after you write your cover letter, fire up the design/illustration/typography engines and turn that lump of text into a killer poster. We’ll print out your CLP (Cover Letter Poster) on our state-of-art laser printing system to hang in the lobby. So think of your CLP as a way to say hi to thehappycorp global. Some guidelines:

task II.CHOP SHOP We want nothing more than to make your time at thehappycorp happy and fruitful. If you’ve got your software chops down before you come through the door, the more time we have for ideas & design. We look forward to recognizing your skills and other interesting human assets. Good luck and have fun! A. PHOTOSHOP - Download this image and color-correct it using Photoshop. If you’re so inclined, share with us the techniques you used. Feel free to add your own unique touches to the image. B. ILLUSTRATOR - Think of a word or phrase for the image. Using Illustrator, set the word or phrase in a font of your choosing. Customize/manipulate the typography in a way that best expresses your idea. Hint: Try bypassing the filters and show your anchor point prowess! C. INDESIGN - Using InDesign, compose a 11×17 layout using the color-corrected image, customized type, and any other elements think appropriate. We love surprises. D. SIGN, SEAL, DELIVER - (1) Export both PDF and JPEG versions of your design. (2) Package the InDesign file. (3) Zip the PDF, JPEG and InDesign Package into a cute 5mb zip file (no larger) and submit to us by email. |
