War has left its indelible mark on the bodies of the men in Nina Berman’s photo exhibit of veterans from the war in Iraq.

“Purple Hearts: Back from Iraq” documents the stories of men who fought in Iraq and returned home missing pieces of their bodies and minds. The images of post-adrenaline loss are some of the most haunting we’ve ever seen.

The exhibit at our neighborhood Jen Bekman Gallery in Nolita has been extended through September 8th.
