happy on the web: Matthew Spangler: Issue 2
| by matt
The mission of the Department is to teach and promote the creation and distribution of entertainment and information media content for the Bay Area region through its radio station, University Theatre, and screenwriting and narrative film programs.
Matthew Spangler is one of the students in the Theatre Arts program and this past Spring he adapted the popular novel “Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini for the stage. It was performed as part of the Spring 2007 theatre season. You can see a couple of highlights here from what looks like a successful adaptation. You can see from the photos below, that we’ve got ourselves a budding Jerry Bruckheimer.
Makes me happy someone with my name is a part of a program that expects students to “learn and apply the creative and technical skills used in professional performance and production while making intelligent decisions about the role of the media in society”.

Dr. Spangler is not a student, as the information here indicates, but rather is a professor at San Jose State University.
