The Pursuit of Happiness

 | by your friend

What is happiness really? Could it be weighed on a scale, measuring pain and pleasure and constantly teetering back and forth between life’s crippling hardships and life’s fleeting moments of ecstasy? Maybe, maybe not, but a recent article in The Economist hopes to give a glimpse at the possibilities of where happiness comes from and how we can possibly harness it for our own benefit.

Appearing in the December 19th, 2006 print edition of the magazine, this article, titled “Economics discovers its feelings,” surmises that economics, like happiness, is sometimes sullied by the competitiveness of others and the pursuit to one up the next person. This leads mass happiness to dwindle and fall upon those who can follow their true passions, such as cooking or nursing, or any other profession where economic stability doesn’t play the main part in choosing that occupation.

We here at thehappycorp believe whole-heartedly in following dreams and taking your own approach to acquiring your own sense of happiness. And by the way, leave a comment below about what makes you jump for joy and click your heels together in a fit of spastic glee. Reading these blog posts, perhaps?
