Fresh Brooklyn Water
Tasty, tasty, tasty
Brooklyn Brewery sponsored The Coastal Marine Resource Center's (CMRC) Annual Fundraiser at the East River Park Amphitheater on July 13th, 2006. They took the opportunity to honor “Stewards of the Estuary” Lillian Borrone and Vice Admiral Paul Gaffney for their work on the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy and raise awareness for coastal conservation and public waterfront access. CMRC Benefit Host, Moby, played an unplugged performance with vocalist Laura Dawn and guitarist Daron Murphy.
We guess Windpowered , Brooklyn Brewery was too busy brewing beer to take in the CMRC’s show. They threw their tickets our way and made our intern's day.
The highlight of the night was the award ceremony during which the M.C. unwrapped the awards, reached across the awardee, handed the award to Moby, who then awkwardly handed it to the awardee standing between himself and the M.C. It was beautifully choreographed, kind of like a 6th grade graduation.
Moby provided another amazing moment; during an impressive cover of Jonny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” he requested that the audience vocalize the “horn section”. Best part of the night, hands down.
Good job Brooklyn Brewery and CMRC for setting a positive example for the NYC business community. If you or your business would like to run on wind power too, check out NewWind Energy.
