Tesla Motors Keep it Clean and Green
| by your friend
The new Tesla Roadster prototype silently runs on 6,831 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (just like the one in your cellphone or laptop), goes from 0 to 60 in four seconds, has a top speed of 135 mph, a sexy high-design carbon body, can go over 200 miles without stopping to recharge, and starts at $100,000.
While $1000,000 sounds like a steep price for a two seater, the Roadster is just the beginning in a line of highly efficient electric powered vehicles from Tesla. Provided that the launch of their sports car goes well, Tesla has a four-door sedan design ready for production. This looks like the beginning of a positive change in the gas-guzzling automotive world.
With their venture capital coming from Silicon Valley moguls; PayPal cofounder Elon Musk, Google’s Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and ex-eBay chief Jeff Skoll, Tesla utilizes technology to their full advantage. Beyond what's under their innovative hood, Tesla is using the net to spread the word about their new venture. On Wednesday July, 19th Tesla creator, Martin Eberhard made his first blog entry on the Tesla Motors website, Attitude was his topic of discussion. In one of the few direct references Eberhard made to the car itself he reviewed some logistics of the engine, he wrote:
For gasoline, bigger equals less efficient “ there's no way around it. Amazingly, the opposite is true for electric motors: the bigger the electric motor the more efficient it is. So by making a powerful electric car, we are also making a highly-efficient car. It seems almost like cheating.
Partner at thehappycorp global, Matt Spangler, has this to say about Tesla Motor's:
Tesla motors is the kind of company that thehappycorp loves. They embody the entrepreneurial drive and ingenuity that are often the foundation for the world’s great ideas. The technology, design and innovation that their team has brought together can enact a massive positive change.
