Semi-Permanent
Birth of the Cool
The highly anticipated Semi-Permanent05 New York conference was a blowout debut and a non-stop weekend, with two full days of presentations, three nights of celebratory parties, and over 1200 people in attendance each conference day. This inaugural New York conference marked the continuing growth and worldwide success of the Semi-Permanent program, and our speakers represented an extraordinary level of diversity and expertise in the design industry. Conference production boldly leapt forward, bringing students, professionals, and aspiring individuals to New York’s finest performing arts venue, Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.
True to our goal of a global conference, we hosted attendees from all over the map. From the Burton design team in Vermont to the T-Mobile design division in Croatia, from film and furniture makers in Germany to graphic designers hailing from London, Paris, Milan, Rio de Janeiro, and Johannesburg, Semi-Permanent NYC became its own melting pot of creative ideas, backgrounds, and nationalities. With the overwhelming amount of enthusiastic feedback and positive press we've received, we're excited to keep the spirit of inspiration alive by creating an even bigger and better event for 2006.

Thank you Chantal, Kris, Aaron, and Ben for taking such good care of your little out-of-towner volunteer. :) And if Jen or Wendy read this, I’m sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye after the closing night party.
