What’s wrong with this video?

Came upon this video today. It came out a while back, but someone sent it to me recently, which shows the power of YouTube to spread media far beyond its previous incarnations. I never saw it on release, but have been sent the link by a few people recently, so its receiving a second life.

While I’m skeptical about the $15 budget for this (I mean, the motion graphics had to be done by someone after all), and whether the people she references as the source of the saved money have lives that are less important than those who she didn’t hire for the video , what I would say for sure is that this is kind of thing that needs to be communicated more often, and to a wider audience using these mediums.

We certainly applaud an effective use of digital media to continue to spread a message that needs to be heard. This is another good example of using the power of “personal media” and distribution channels like YouTube to reach a wide audience on a small budget.

No matter what you think, its a good idea. And we like people with ideas. Especially ones that at their core have a message of helping others and doing good. The song is a pretty one, even if its not my thing. My friend Courtney Farquhar always reminded me of Sarah McLachlan.

Sarah tied her video into a site as well that shows there the money from the video went. Its definitely worth a look.
