Yahoo Chair at thehappycorp
On October 19, thehappycorp founder, Doug Jaeger, appeared as a panelist at Yahoo!’s Creative Conference X at Dodger Stages. He was also awarded an enormous piece of purple furniture, otherwise known as the Big Idea Chair, for his stellar accomplishments as a creative entrepreneur in the digital realm.
Yahoo! invited four panelists to preside over the conference in much the same way that a Greek chorus oversees a Sophoclean tragedy, as a resounding voice of reason and wisdom. Along with Doug, the esteemed panel included David Butter, Executive VP of Wunderman, Cindy Gallop, Chairman of BBH New York, and Scott Goodson, Founder and CEO of strawberryfrog. After an excellent keynote address given by Andrew Robertson, President and CEO of BBDO Worldwide, Big Idea Finalists Cossette Post, Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Cole & Weber / Red Cell, and Arnold Worldwide presented their innovative work on TD Waterhouse, Burger King, Rainier Beer, and Vonage, respectively. Doug and his three fellow panelists asked each presenter questions about the campaigns and added their input for the audience to consider. Following the presentations, the audience voted on which of the four campaigns deserved highest honors — the Big Idea Chair — an ultimately decided on Cole & Weber / Red Cell for their work on Rainier Beer.
During a brief intermission, Yahoo! awarded Doug and two other creative pioneers in attendance a Big Idea Chair of their very own, further honoring them as recipients of OMMA’s Creative All-Star Award. This massive, magenta, overstuffed chair will surely become an inspiring fixture in thehappycorp office… if we can get it through the door.
The Big Idea Chair. Need we say more?
